La tenuta

Pierre Fabre è diventato proprietario dello Château de Gaure nel 2004. Nel III secolo a.C., questo sito familiare ricco di storia era uno dei più grandi oppidum. I Romani scelsero questo luogo che domina la valle dell'Aude perché dalla cima di queste colline si poteva controllare l'intera regione, dai Pirenei al Massiccio Centrale.

Elegant and flavourful wines in a beautiful rustic setting augmented by the art work of the owner. The hostess provided a clear description of the biodynamic process that further augments the quality of the wine. Five wines tasted including a 2012 that demonstrated well the capacity for age of these wines

Benoir was our happy smiling guide who made our visit very informative. The wines we tasted, 5, were all excellent and made organically. Clearly, the vineyard cares about all aspects of production and its effect on the environment. The chatter at the tasting table was lively and relaxed. A big thank you Bernoir who didn’t hurry us at any point.

We really enjoyed our visit Château de Gaure and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of taking a vineyard/wine tasting tour. The tour was in both English and French (English for us) and it was really interesting - everything from seeing where the owner painted the labels for the bottles of wine, through to the actual wine making process, a walk to the closest vineyard and then the all important wine tasting in the guest house. We could only purchase one bottle as we were struggling with weight for our flight back, but we can heartily recommend the wine!

Warmly welcomed by Benoit’s wife as he was getting the car fixed, we tasted four wonderful wines and were also treated to a tour of their lovely chamber de hôte. On Benoit’s return we got a tour of the vineyards and the winemaking process. A fabulous trip to a family owned vineyard where the personal touch made the experience authentic and special. Thank you so much; we loved our visit on our last day in the region, just wishing we had visited earlier to buy more than one of the wines!
