Champagne Harlin Père et Fils

The tour was very generous in both time allocated, responsiveness to our questions and the tasting itself. A very informative and pleasurable afternoon.

We have been welcomed and took on a visit of the cellar by the owner who was very kind and passionate. He gave us the possibility to taste the freshly pressed juice directly from the fermentation tanks to appreciate the differences between the different grape varieties. We tasted 7 wines at the end, all their products plus a new (not yet in commerce) one. Overall a beautiful visit I strongly recommend if you love small champagne producers.

Tom nous a accueillis, nous a fait le tour et nous a fait déguster tous les champagnes disponibles. Il a pris le temps de nous expliquer toutes les subtilités qui font des caves Harlin ce qu'ils sont. Meilleure visite de notre séjour dans la région.

Nous étions partis pour réaliser une visite dégustation de 2h00 le matin. Nous sommes ressortis à 16h00 ! L'accueil était très agréable, pas de chichi comme dans les grandes maisons. Les explications étaient très claires, sur le terrain (pas avec un audioguide et des vidéos) et le vigneron disponible pour toutes nos questions ! Nous avons eu la chance qu'il n'ait pas eu d'autres visites dans la journée. Ce fut l'occasion de manger ensemble et d'en apprendre plus sur le terroir & les traditions. Our visit to Champagne Harlin Pere et Fils was a wonderful experience. When we arrived, Guillaume Harlin greeted us and indicated he was running a little late, as he had taken the previous group on an adventure in the vineyards. He said he was going to go a restaurant for lunch where they caught trout and cooked it for you and asked if we would like to join him for the tasting at the restaurant! While we had already had our lunch, we immediately said yes as it seemed like an experience we would remember for a long time. We followed him to a beautiful restaurant set on a small lake. We went to the outside deck and Guillaume brought out his different champagnes for us to taste and experience.We tasted five different champagnes that the family makes from their three different areas of vineyards. Guillaume explained the different soils that each of their vineyards have and how that gives the grapes their character and allows them to make such wonderful champagne.T all of the champagnes we tasted were all superb, but my wife and I especially liked the the Cuvee Grand /cru and the Cuvee Gouettes D'or Rose.We cannot thank Guillaume enough for giving us such a unique tasting experience and would definitely recommend everyone come and try the champagnes from Champagne Harlin Pere et Fils!!

My dad and I visited for about two hours this family run house with lovely wines and a genuine passion for their work and their product. I’m very interested in, and have studied wine on a basic level while my dad is more of a happy drinker. We both got a lot out of our visit and learned a lot. The guy who showed us around spoke great English (despite the fact that we had booked a tour in French!) and was happy to explain and elaborate on any subject we (I) brought up. When he didn’t have the answers, he went to ask or invited the owner to join in and elaborate further.The wines themselves are of very good quality and the tasting reflected that in a nice way. The prices per bottle to take home were good (ranging from €24-around €40).This place is the opposite of the big brands with their generic, mass produced guiding and tasting of their equally mass produced wines. At Harlin you really get a good idea of what growing vines and making champagne is all about and you get to hear it first hand from the people devoting their life to it. There’s no script, no marketing people deciding what you should and shouldn’t see. On the contrary you’re invited to see most parts of the production and the guide was at least in our case very happy to customise the tour according to our specific questions and requests. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon in Champagne.
