Château Pape Clément, Grand Cru Classé

Recommended tour . Close to Bordeaux city. The Chateaux is very well maintained and clean. We completed the tour with 3 wines tasting . We were 20 peoples which is good and easy manageable. Strongly recommended

Visited beautiful Château Pape Clément. The tour guide was very informational as to the history of this château as well as different wine appellations. Beautiful grounds and great wine.

The visit in this wonderful castle was full of interesting information and the guide was professional.

Have visited over 80 chateaux in Bordeaux…this was hands-down the most commercial mass tourism experience I’ve had. Had a morning free so wanted to try it, but frankly wouldn’t recommend it.If you must come, I’d go for the cheaper visit: the Pape Clement visit had approximately 5 minutes of history on Pape Clement and a peep at a recreation of his tomb. Not worth the extra expense.Tour guide was an intern. Group size was 15, most clearly tourists that knew absolutely nothing about wine. Tasting was of 2 whites and 1 red. Nothing special about the tour.I’d give this one a hard pass unless you are absolutely obsessed with Pape Clement. There are such better options elsewhere.

My tour was hosted by the lovely Morgane. She was very informative and good humoured. She looked after the group; got us to stand in the shade. It was a hot day. Obviously, the tour can be a bit technical. In one room I noticed little wooden carvings and in another stained glass windows. I would have liked to know a little more about these features as it has more to do with social history of place. The wine tasting was conducted by Morgane's colleague. She too knew her stuff and gave lots of advice about wine and food. She was very good humoured too - sipping wine all day does that. Absolutely no hard sell at the end. You can explore gift shop or garden at your leisure. Highly recommended activity. Thanks to all the staff.
